Workers should see an employer’s side of things and evaluate the value of what they themselves can add to the company and employers can better understand that their staff does not consist of robots and will need a boost from time to time.

1. Be Reasonable
Setting goals and establishing a time-frame for accomplishing tasks involves estimating the productivity of workers. There should be careful consideration for the reasons that individuals steps will take a certain amount of time. Unreasonable expectations lead to disappointments and frustration for all involved. Planning involves coordinating everything and considering time that will be needed for break-downs of equipment, purchasing supplies, holidays, potential personal time taken by employees, etc. and consider the impact of these things with the amount of time that will pass until goals are achieved. While workers are expected to give their very best all the time, if too much is expected, it can be a burden that distracts workers from getting the job done right and can drag down company morale.
2. Show Appreciation
Every member of a team has their own way of contributing and making a business a success. It is because of everyone’s individual strengths in playing their part that allows successful businesses to grow and function effectively. Understand the different characteristics of each person and shine a light on qualities that stand out. This encourages creativity and instills a sense of pride in one’s work when hard work is recognized. 4. Don’t be Overbearing
Nothing gets in the way of getting work done more than someone constantly letting you know how to get the work done. Workers want to be trusted to get their job done and do not like the thought of being micromanaged like some sort of remote-controlled gadget. Workers need their space to ‘get in the zone’ and place their undivided attention on tasks at hand. Distractions such as meetings, lunch breaks and even starting and finishing the day take away time and focus for 15 minutes or more as workers transition or travel to and from locations. Try to minimize the amount of meetings that are held. While it is important that everyone is on the same page, organizing more meetings than necessary to get the job done hinders progress and does not allow workers to get to work. 5. Don’t be Negligent
On the other end of the spectrum, workers who are left to their own devices can recklessly abandon any modicum of productivity and can wholly destroy a company if not looked after and held accountable. Workers need space to get their jobs done, but that does not exclude supervisors from observing tasks in action to make sure that everything is being done correctly and in a timely manner.
